Bulldogs rout Ragin' Cajuns

in Louisiana's Cajundome

LAFAYETTE, La. -- Louisiana Tech drained a season-high 13 3-pointers on Satuday and held Louisiana to a season-low in points as the Bulldogs routed the Ragin' Cajuns, 83-62, inside the Cajundome.

Lousiana Tech (9-3) continued its road success this season as Louisiana (7-4) entered the in-state battle having won 21 of its last 22 games at home. The margin of victory was the largest for the Bulldogs over the Ragin' Cajuns in Lafayette in almost 30 years.

"Being able to come into (Lafayette) and defend the way we did was really what was required in order to be successful," said Louisiana Tech head coach Eric Konkol. "They are an explosive offense team. Our guys really executed on both ends of the floor very well.

"We have a gritty group of guys that are really playing for one another. With the amount of adversity we have faced with guys in and out of the lineup with injuries and so forth, it says a lot about these guys playing with a next-man-up mentality and we have to keep that going."

Louisiana Tech was without sophomore Exavian Christon, of Hot Springs, for a fifth consecutive game. Senior guard Derric Jean was also out for a second consecutive game. Both were among three players voted team captains in the preseason.

The Bulldogs' final non-conference game of the regular season is scheduled for 4 p.m. on Saturday inside the Thomas Assembly Center on Karl Malone Court against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (4-5).
