Vegetarian club topic on using herbs

The Vegetarian Supper Club, which will meet at 6:30 p.m. Monday, will feature a special program, "Seasoning and Cooking with Herbs," by Carol Scholp. It will include ways to avoid harmful and toxic products while using healthful products and cooking food with natural herbs.

Scholp became a master gardener in the late 1990s, ran a bed and breakfast, and has taught herbal and cooking classes at Garvan Woodland Gardens and for nonprofits in Hot Springs.

The club meets in the fellowship hall of Seventh-day Adventist Church, 401 Weston Road on the second Monday of each month. Attendees should bring a vegetarian dish with the recipe, and a self-addressed envelope to receive the recipe collection for the evening. Admission is free and everyone is welcome. Sunday brunch at Elks Lodge

Elks Lodge 380, 132 Abbott Place, will have a Sunday brunch from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. for members and their guests. Cost is $11 for age 10 and up, $5 for ages 4-9 and children 3 and under are free.

Order of Rainbow GWA official visit

Grand Worthy Advisor Abby Rushin will make her official visit to Hot Springs Assembly 77, Christina 59, and Zion 33 International Order of Rainbow for girls at 2 p.m. today at the Hot Springs Masonic Temple, 311 W. Grand Ave. The grand officers will perform an initiation of new members along with introductions, addenda and dinner with Sock Hop and Soda Jerks theme. A sisterhood will follow. All active, majority and sponsoring bodies are welcome.
