Garland County Sheriff's Department Deputy Bennie Strickland holds one of the department's K-9 officers, Sandy, as Lake Hamilton Intermediate School student Kellun Barnett pats her on the head during a program Tuesday. To go along with National Police Week, LHIS students created treat bags and cards for the officers and conducted a fundraiser in order to purchase bulletproof vests for the two sheriff's K-9s, Sandy and Aton. The intermediate school raised more than $2,000 for the vests.
