Karl Broberg, among the top 10 trainers at Oaklawn Park's 2018 live racing season, won 31 races to lead the standings at Louisiana Downs, which ended its meeting on Sept. 27.
Broberg entered Tuesday as the country's winningest trainer this year with 413 victories, according to Equibase, racing's official data gathering organization.
Hall of Famer Steve Asmussen, Oaklawn's leading trainer the last three years, is second with 294, followed by Brad Cox at 199 and Robertino Diodoro at 197. Diodoro and Cox finished second and fourth, respectively, in this year's Oaklawn standings.
Diodoro and Mac Robertson shared the training title at the Canterbury Park meeting that ended Sept. 15 in Minnesota. Robertson finished 10th in the Oaklawn trainer standings this year.
After Asmussen captured his ninth Oaklawn title since 2007 this year, he subsequently led the standings at the Churchill Downs spring meeting.
Broberg led the standings this summer at Lone Star Park in Texas and Prairie Meadows in Iowa. Cox won the title at the Ellis Park meeting that closed Sept. 3 in Kentucky.
Norman McKnight, Oaklawn's co-seventh-leading trainer this year, has a meet-high 90 victories so far this season at Woodbine Racetrack in Toronto. Woodbine's meet ends Dec. 16.
Asmussen and Broberg rank first and second with 34 wins and 25 wins, respectively, during the current meet at Remington Park in Oklahoma City. Remington Park's season also closes Dec. 16.Sports on 10/11/2018
