HOT SPRINGS VILLAGE -- The Bee Hive Neighborhood Hangout, 220 Minorca Road in Hot Springs Village, sponsored its first Open Mic Night on Wednesday.

All acts were welcome. Owner Greg Jones coordinated the event, indicating that it could become a monthly event.

Drones and Queens gathered in the Hive and on the new patio area large enough to accommodate customers and seven tap dancers. From '60s folk music to comedy to dancers, the crowd enjoyed food, libations and entertainment against a "beautiful evening sky."

The Spa City Tappers kicked off the show performing their newest routine, "Shim Sham Shimmy," a Gatsby-themed dance. The tappers have been together three years under the direction of Pattie Genovese and is comprised of senior dancers over the age of 60.

Tap is one of the classes taught out of the Hot Springs Senior Center. The collective age of the performers that evening was 502 years old.
