Lakeside, Lake Hamilton split matches in Pearcy

PEARCY -- Lake Hamilton's girls rolled to a 6-0 win over Lakeside Tuesday night before the Rams responded with a 6-2 win over the Wolves in the late game.

Lake Hamilton (4-8-1, 3-5 5A South) found the back of the net at the 20:41 mark as senior Caitlyn Porter got the ball past Lakeside sophomore goalkeeper Taylor Bledsoe. The Lady Wolves made it 2-0 over the Lady Rams (4-9, 3-5) with a goal by Porter with 10:12 left in the first half.

The score remained unchanged until the 58th minute as junior Kayla Mark took a penalty kick, stretching the Lady Wolves' lead out to 3-0 with 22:45 remaining. Another PK, this one by Porter, made the score 4-0 with 17:50 left in the game.

Porter picked up the hat trick in the 63rd minute before scoring her fourth goal with 11:06 to go for the 6-0 win.

Bledsoe picked up five saves against the two goals in the first half. Sophomore Nicole Jones stepped into goal in the second half, allowing four goals against two saves.

Both teams conceeded three corners each. Lakeside committed eight fouls while Lake Hamilton had four.

Lake Hamilton senior keeper Baylee Barton finished with six saves on the night.

The game's only booking was a red card against Bledsoe with 22:54 left in the second half.

In the boys' match, the Rams got things going quickly, with junior Grant Viscardis finding the back of the goal off an assist from junior Kade Tarbet in the second minute. Junior Gabriel Morales took an assist from freshman Imanol Barragan to make it 2-0 in the 14th minute.

Five minutes later, Viscardis found senior Thomas McAlister for a 3-0 lead in the 21st minute. Lake Hamilton's Dereck Strong cut into the Rams' lead in the 23rd minute with a tap-in past Lakeside senior goalkeeper Anthony Herrera.

About a minute later, junior Bobby Rhodes sent the ball into the box, and Tarbet managed to get the ball into the right side of the goal for a 4-1 lead.

The Rams go ahead, 5-1, in the 48th minute as a foul in the penalty box on Barragan put the ball on the spot. Viscardis lasered the ball past the keeper for the goal.

Sophomore Eli Shields cut the Lakeside lead back down to three goals with a quick move to put the ball inside the left post for a 5-2 deficit with 10 minutes remaining. A foul just outside the box set up a direct free kick for the Rams, and freshman Kole Kelley found the ball in front of the net, tapping it in for the 6-2 win.

Lakeside will host Benton tonight with the girls at 5 p.m., and Lake Hamilton's boys will travel to Little Rock to face J.A. Fair on Friday for a 5 p.m. match.
