ASMSA students get CBYX scholarships

The Arkansas School for Mathematics, Sciences, and the Arts students Nina Thomas and Kenneth Ventress are among the 350 high school students from across the U.S. to be selected as 2019-2020 recipients of the Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange, or CBYX, Scholarship, a news release said.

The CBYX program premiered in 1983 to strengthen ties between Germany and the U.S. It is jointly funded and managed by the U.S. Congress and the German Bundestag.

According to the release, students who participate in the program learn about German culture first hand for a year by living with a host family and attending a German high school. Youth For Understanding USA administers the CBYX program in Arkansas through a cooperative agreement with the U.S. Department of State's Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs.
