Little Rock zookeeper to address photography club meeting

The August meeting of National Park Photography Club will feature a presentation by Karen Caster, an avid photographer who is a zookeeper at the Little Rock Zoo.

"Zoos are great places to capture photos of a variety of animals as well as the people watching them. Karen will present a program that features many of her interesting photographs of the animals in her care, and will give tips to overcome some of the challenges such as shooting through glass and focusing beyond fences," a news release said.

"Photographing zoo animals is the best chance most of us will have to create images of exotic creatures. It is possible to get great shots even in the controlled environment offered by zoos. We are fortunate to have the Little Rock Zoo, which is home to more than over 300 species of animals, within about an hour's drive of Hot Springs. If you are interested in learning more about how to get that amazing shot of a gorilla or a close up image of snake eyes, join NPPC on Tuesday in the auditorium of the Garland County Library," the release said.

The general meeting begins at 5:30 p.m. and will be followed by presentation and judging of July pictorial and nature images.

"This is a good opportunity to meet other local photographers and see some of their recent work. Then stay for Karen's presentation and learn how you too can create outstanding animal photographs," the release said.
