Francis Leroy Verrett, 94, of Hot Springs, Ark., passed away Aug. 19, 2019. He was born March 12, 1925, in Weeks Island, La., to Raymond and Elda (Sedatol) Verret. Leroy liked to spend his time supervising on the farm and always looked forward to Monday night cards with the boys. A competitive game of rook was always a favorite past time when family was in, from daylight to dark and daylight again. He was a simple man that enjoyed the simple things with the people he cared about most.
Leroy was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 55 years, Beatrice Verrett; brothers, Allen, Clarence, Lloyd, and RD Verret; and sisters, Mary Ann and Eula Mae Verret.
Survivors include his wife of 13 years, Eunice Verrett; daughter, Kay Carver (Jimmy); stepson, Ron Wright (Connie); step-daughter, Brenda Wright; grandchildren, Tonya Klemm, Donnie Klemm (Lacey), Scott Miller (Robyn); great-grandchildren, Taylor and Sydney Klemm, Adam Miller, Kristen Yates; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. today at Caruth-Hale Funeral Home.
A celebration of Leroy's life will be 2 p.m. Friday at Caruth-Hale Funeral Home Chapel.
Burial will follow at Crestview Cemetery.
Pallbearers include Scott Miller, Ronnie, Eldridge, and Farrell Louviere, Donald Klemm, Jerry Verret and Lloyd Verret Jr.
Honorary pallbearers are Doyle Miller, Richard McGrew, Darrell Eckard, Dan Block, Joe Elser, and Ron Wright.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the surgical team, doctors, and nurses at the VA Hospital in Little Rock.
