LH offers VIP 'Game Day Experience'

PEARCY -- The Lake Hamilton School District athletic department is offering the opportunity for local businesses and organizations to bid on a "VIP Ultimate Game Day Experience" at Lake Hamilton, with bids starting at $1,000.

Bidders will have two opportunities to win, with the auction offering VIP Ultimate Game Day Experience options for either the Lake Hamilton vs. Lakeside football game on Sept. 5 or the Lake Hamilton vs. Hot Springs football game on Sept. 20.

Bidding opened Tuesday. As of 4 p.m. Wednesday, no bids had been placed. However, Brian Bridges, school communications coordinator, said he has received "a few calls and texts regarding interest." Bids can be made by visiting http://bit.ly/VIPGameDayExperience.

The website will be updated daily at 10 a.m. to reflect the current highest bidder, a news release said. Winners will be required to pay their bid in full via check or credit card by the following Tuesday at 10 a.m. when the winners will be announced.

Winners will be afforded private use for up to 50 people of the air-conditioned Lake Hamilton Wolf Arena Alumni Room, which overlooks Lake Hamilton Wolf Stadium during either the Lakeside or Hot Springs game. The experience also includes exclusive use of the 28-seat end-zone chair back seating area connected to the Alumni Room; a catered taco or nacho bar provided from 6 p.m. until the end of halftime; a pregame public announcement recognizing the winning bidder(s); and a "hospitality attendant" from 6 p.m. until the end of the game, the release stated.

Bids for the experience start at $1,000 and can be placed in $100 increments.

The minimum bid of $1,000 "covers the cost of providing the experience for 50 people (food, game ticket, hospitality attendant and facility)," the release said.

Any funds garnered from bids above this amount will go directly toward "general athletic department expenses for all sports throughout the year," he said.

While Bridges said there is no "target amount" this year, he added, "Of course, we would love to go over $1,000 for this event so that the athletic department would receive some funds to help with various needs that arise throughout the year that are not currently in a budget."

The concept for the event was put forth by athletic director Rick Waters and assistant athletic director Jeff Scott. This is the first event of its kind held at the school.

"The idea was developed after seeing other events that have spaces for corporate businesses or organizations to rent space out to enjoy particular events," Bridges said.

As for other schools in Garland County, Bridges said he was "not aware of anyone that does a VIP Experience like we are offering."

Bidding for the Lakeside game ends at 10 a.m. Sept. 2, while bidding for the Hot Springs game ends at 10 a.m. Sept. 16.
