The Garland County Library, 1427 Malvern Ave., will host free holiday concerts beginning Tuesday.

Classical guitarist and vocalist David Perry will perform at 6 p.m. Tuesday, while the library's own holiday ensemble, Andy and the Dandies, will perform at 1 p.m. Wednesday.

Both concerts are free to attend, but registration is required for Perry's concert.

Perry's career began in a musical family in Minneapolis. After graduating from The North Carolina School of the Arts, he joined the U.S. Army Band, Pershing's Own, in Washington, D.C., as their guitarist. After serving, Perry started David Perry's Guitar and Lute Shop in Washington in Dupont Circle. He also started a concert series at Georgetown University and performed with the Washington Opera, Washington Opera Orchestra, and gave solo recitals at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, Wolf Trap Farm Park, The Folger Library and the George Washington University among many other venues throughout the area, a news release from the library said.

He was also awarded a Solo Recitalist Grant from the National Endowment of the Arts. Perry and his wife, Denyce Graves, were asked by the White House to perform "America the Beautiful" together for the National Memorial Service for 9/11 at Washington National Cathedral. "It was broadcast around the world and the first time five U.S. Presidents had been together at an event," the release said.

More recently, Perry started WINLife TV in Winchester, Va., and produced 400 shows of community interest on the internet. He moved to Hot Springs Village a year ago.

Perry will perform music from the Renaissance and Baroque periods, opera, and popular songs.

The Andy and the Dandies ensemble includes library employees Andy Diggs, Jacob Flores, Jill Dryden, Tony Webb, Whitney Caldwell and Madison Oden, as well as former employees Rani Simpson and Lora Lee McCullough.

"Keyboardist and Dandies namesake, Andy Diggs, loves Christmas more than just about anybody I know," Adult Programmer Paul Kagebein said in the release. "This will be his fifth year performing in the staff holiday concert. His favorite part about this annual concert is seeing how happy it makes our library patrons."

The library will serve free refreshments to attendees during this concert.
