Recycling 1 ton of corrugated cardboard saves 9 cubic yards of landfill space and 46 gallons of oil. "Be the Earth Angel of your neighborhood and encourage a neighbor to start recycling," the city said in a news release.

Last week the Earth Angels of Hot Springs recycled:
• 111 pounds -- Aluminum cans.
• 2,888 pounds -- Newspaper.
• 657 pounds -- Corrugated cardboard.
• 438 pounds -- Plastic No. 1 and No. 2.
• 42,120 pounds -- Yard waste and C.A.P.S.
• 67,120 pounds -- Commercial corrugated cardboard.
A total of 56.67 tons of recyclable materials were kept out of the landfill.
