For the 10th year, Visit Hot Springs will install free license plates bearing the city's name and logo so local drivers can spread the word about the Spa City as they travel elsewhere.

Installations will be from 7 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Feb. 4, or whenever the license plates run out, in front of the Hot Springs Convention Center on Convention Boulevard, according to a news release.

"The plates will let people know where the drivers are from as they travel inside Arkansas and outside the state," Bill Solleder, marketing director for Visit Hot Springs, said in the release. "All the drivers have to do is come to the convention center and we'll install the plates for them if their front bumpers have pre-drilled holes for placement of a license plate. They won't even have to get out of the car. First-come, first-served."

Solleder said Visit Hot Springs will install the plates.

"We'll even give you a free St. Patrick's Day Frisbee as long as our supply lasts," he said.

According to Steve Arrison, the license plates are a "great, inexpensive way for Hot Springs and Garland County residents to let the rest of the country know about their hometown."

"This is the 10th year we've done the promotion," Arrison said in the release. "We have given away more than 5,500 of the plates since we began the promotion."

Arrison said the plates are metal, black-teal-and-white custom license plates with raised letters.

"They're really nice," he said.
