The Sentinel-Record/Grace Brown CLEAR PATH: Cutter Morning Star forward C.J. Burks (45) positions in front of a Maumelle Charter defender Friday as Brecken Knott-Debord (22) drives in for a layup during the Lady Eagles' 62-20 rout of the Lady Falcons inside Eagle Fieldhouse.

Cutter Morning Star junior guard Kara Kinkaid earned a double-double, dominating the boards Friday as the Lady Eagles routed Maumelle Charter, 62-20, at Eagle Fieldhouse.

Kinkaid pulled down 11 first-half rebounds on her way to 17 on the night, 12 on the defensive end of the court, while putting up 12 points with three steals and an assist.

"She can jump, and she's strong," said Cutter Morning Star head coach Brittany Senn. "That's one of her strongest attributes on the team is rebounding and blocking."

Junior center C.J. Burks led the Lady Eagles (6-12, 4-6 2A-5) with 17 points with four rebounds, four steals and a block. Sophomore Brecken Knott-Debord was the only other Lady Eagle in double-digits with 12 points, seven steals and three rebounds.

"She's been playing really good for us," Senn said of Burks. "Obviously, she's the one we try to go through first. She's really stepped up. I think even next year is going to be good for her.

"Brecken's been playing well for us the past couple of games. She's scrappy and quick, very quick. If we can just get her to finish all those layups, she'll be good to go."

Junior guard Madison Bellomy got things off on the right foot for the Lady Eagles with a bucket just four seconds into the game to kick off a 14-0 run in the opening four minutes. Maumelle Charter (4-17, 1-9) got its first field goal with 3:45 left in the period as the Lady Eagles cruised to a 20-5 lead in the opening quarter with the Lady Falcons picking up the majority of their points from the free throw line.

"We didn't execute," Maumelle Charter head coach Robbi Ball said. "Shots wouldn't fall. The kids still worked hard; they always work hard, but we just didn't execute our offense and shots wouldn't fall.

"They played their hearts out, but they just outplayed us tonight. Coach Senn does a really good job with her kids."

Cutter Morning Star continued to push its lead, giving up just one more field goal to the Lady Falcons en route to a 30-9 halftime advantage. The Lady Eagles stretched the lead to 48-16 going into the final period.

With a dominant lead throughout the game, the entire Cutter Morning Star bench got in on the action, except junior guard Haley Scott, who is on concussion protocol after sustaining an injury Tuesday. Each Lady Eagle on the floor put points on the scoreboard with junior guard McKenna Knott-Debord adding eight, Bellomy six, sophomore Nichole Cobb three and junior center Trinity Raper and senior guard Joslyn Turner two apiece.

"I thought we played well," Senn said. "I thought we played hard, gritty, scrappy. We played more like a team than we have been early on in the year."

Junior guard Emily Walsh led the Lady Falcons with eight points and a pair of steals.

"She's usually one of our best scorers and is one of our best defensive players," Ball said. "This is her sister's first game back after eight games off for concussion, and it was against these guys. It's a tough match. They're missing one with a concussion, too. We've just got to get better."

Junior guard Hannah Osburn added six points with a rebound and an assist, and Raine Fosburgh led the team in rebounding with seven.

The Lady Eagles will host Magnet Cove (10-11, 4-5) on Tuesday. They lost to the Lady Panthers, 52-36, last month on the road.
