BISMARCK -- RC Burroughs passed away July 2, 2019, after a long struggle with chronic kidney disease. He was born in Bismarck, Ark. on May 29, 1939, to Charlie and Vida Burroughs. RC was the youngest of nine children: Elster, Ruby, Charlie, Elsie, Lloyd, Renie, Freeman, and Lillie.

He graduated from Bismarck High School in 1957 and joined the U.S. Air Force shortly after graduation. RC retired as Master Sergeant after 20 years of service in Tacoma, Wash. He then worked for Boeing Aircraft and retired and enjoyed playing with his grandchildren.

RC was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Elster, Ruby, Charlie, Elsie, Lloyd, Renie, Lillie; and his wife of 48 years, Mary Johnson Burroughs.

Survivors include his brother, Freeman Burroughs of Hot Springs; daughters, Kathy Hudson (Ferrell), Leslie Rausch (Aaron) of Tacoma, Wash., Janet Chartrey (Jim) of Phoenix, Ariz.; son, Robert Burroughs (Gina) of Everett, Wash.; his loving wife, Velzene Wilson Burroughs of Hot Springs; as well as many grandchildren, great-grandchildren; and extended family members.

A memorial service will be held 10 a.m. Friday at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church with Brother Tom Brown officiating.
