Hughes named AAIM Library Media Specialist of Year

The Arkansas Association of Instructional Media, or AAIM, presented Fountain Lake Middle School library media specialist Ronda Hughes with its Library Media Specialist of the Year award on April 29 in Rogers at its annual conference awards luncheon.

The award is given to any Arkansas school library media specialist who has attained excellence in the library or media field through service to students, teachers and community at the K-12 levels, a news release said.

Hughes was nominated by Bryant High School library media specialist Jana Dixon.

During her 19 years in publication, Hughes has created the Connected Book Club, which connects Fountain Lake students with other students around the world, as well as authors, through Skype technology. She also coordinates with the Garland County Public Library to offer various opportunities to Fountain Lake students, is an advocate in her field, serves her community through holding various positions on boards and councils, shares her knowledge through platforms such as Padlet and Twitter and has won national awards, the release said.

Hughes will be entered in the national competition sponsored by the Association for Educational Communications and Technology.
