The Click It or Ticket Memorial Day seat belt safety campaign that local law enforcement agencies participated in between May 20 and June 2 was successful, according to a news release from Garland County sheriff's Sgt. John Schroeder.
The sheriff's department "had multiple deputies working the streets outside of their normal shift hours," he said, noting, "We are happy to announce that due to this campaign we have seen the seat belt use in Garland County go from approximately 81.33 percent to 86.33 percent."
He said the results were calculated by doing pre- and post-campaign surveys of high-traffic areas in the county.
"We are pleased to see the increase and would ask that you all buckle up and help us get to 100 percent," Schroeder said. "The number one way to protect the occupants of your vehicle is to have them wear their safety belts."Local on 06/12/2019
