A Hot Springs School District bus was involved in a minor hit-and-run collision shortly after 3 p.m. Wednesday at the intersection of Lacey and Wood streets, according to reports from the school district and Hot Springs police.

There were no injuries to the 37 students or driver of Bus 89, which sustained minimal damage and was able to continue on its route, Adriane Barnes, the school district's communications coordinator, said.

"Students on Bus 89 may be late getting home, but are in route now," the district posted on its Facebook page.

Hot Springs police Cpl. Joey Williams said the bus was traveling on Wood Street beginning to turn onto Lacey when it was struck by a silver Ford pickup truck that fled the scene. He said witnesses were able to get a partial license plate for the pickup and the incident was still under investigation.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call police at 321-6789.
