rry Garland McGrew, age 70, passed away on March 21, 2019. He was born Oct. 31, 1948, to Garland and Thelma (Crain) McGrew, of Mountain Pine. Jerry was preceded in death by his wife, Linda (Mitchell) McGrew, and his parents.

Survivors include three children, Kiley McGrew, Shelley Irwin and Evan (Taylor) McGrew; twin grandsons, Jet and Hatcher; brother, Gary McGrew (Trish); sister, Susan Coley; sister-in-law, Nancy Roberts; brother-in-law, Robert Mitchell (Betty); cousins, nieces, nephews, a host of friends, and one very special lifelong friend, Gary Short.

Jerry graduated from Mountain Pine High School, attended Henderson State University, and enlisted in the United States Army where he served his country in Vietnam. He was awarded a Purple Heart after sustaining a severe injury in April of 1969. Despite all odds and many courageous battles due to his injury, Jerry maintained his independence and enjoyed golf, hunting, fishing with his son and grandsons, and watching sports television, especially horse racing and golf.

Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 27, at Caruth-Hale Funeral Home in Hot Springs.

Burial will follow in the Godwin Cemetery.

Pallbearers are Shane McGrew, Robin Mitchell, Jonathan Roberts, Eli Coley, Tanner McGrew, Brian Owens, Jonathan Parker and Ronnie Sheffield.

Honorary Pallbearers are Gary Short, Doris Blees, Mike Blees, Andy Boyette, John Cannon, Ronald Owens, George Foshee, and the Lifenet EMS crew.
