The Hot Springs Concert Band will honor all U.S. veterans by presenting its annual Memorial Day concert at 3 p.m. Monday, May 27, in Whittington Park.

The concert is sponsored by RE/MAX of Hot Springs Village.

The Armed Forces Salute, a regular feature at the concert, has the members of each branch of service stand while their branch's song is played.

A new piece this year is Normandy, which commemorates the men who landed at Normandy Beach on D-Day, the largest amphibious invasion in history.

The band will play a medley, "The Homefront: Military Memories from World War II," that includes "Praise the Lord and Pass the Ammunition;" "Thanks for the Memory;" "I'll Be Seeing You" and "Don't Sit Under the Apple Tree (With Anyone Else But Me)."

The concert is free to the public, but donations placed in the stations outside of the audience seating area are appreciated, and audience members are welcome to become Friends of the Band by making a donation of $25 or more.

"People are encouraged to bring lawn chairs, picnic baskets, and plenty of water to enjoy our concert under the magnolias, a wonderful, vanishing slice of Americana," said band president, Bruce Harvey.

Members of the John Pericifull Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution will be distributing flags.

Carpooling is encouraged and parking is free, but parking on West Mountain Drive is prohibited.
