HSV Rotary learns about marketing the Village

HOT SPRINGS VILLAGE -- Kevin Sexton, director of tourism and community affairs for the Hot Springs Village Property Owners' Association, addressed the May 9 meeting of the Rotary Club of Hot Springs Village.

Rotarian of the Day Bill Goodwin introduced Sexton, a veteran economic development and tourism professional, who was previously director of the Community Development Division for the Arkansas Economic Development Commission and served as a consultant with Arkansas Department of Parks and Tourism. An avid golfer, Sexton has been a Village property owner for many years.

"Hot Springs Village has always held a special place with me and I enjoy showcasing it to visitors. One of the ways we do that is through our Discovery Package, a three-day, two-night program to bring people in to see the Village," Sexton said in a news release from the club.

Sexton said the effort to market the Village centers around creating and protecting value through sustainable growth. In light of a state law in which military retirement payments are not taxed, he said he is especially interested in retired military personnel.

Sexton said a big part of the marketing effort involves HSV residents who tell friends and family about the good life in the Village, especially the relatively low cost of living.

"The biggest asset and greatest salespeople we have are you," he told the Rotarians.
