A Hot Springs man was arrested on a felony battery warrant Wednesday morning stemming from allegations he assaulted and stabbed his girlfriend in February.

Walter Alan Gregory, 46, who lists a Wood Street address, was taken into custody at the Hot Springs Police Department shortly before 11 a.m. and charged with second-degree domestic battery, punishable by up to six years in prison.

He was later released on $3,500 bond and is set to appear June 4 in Garland County District Court.

According to the probable cause affidavit, on Feb. 4, around 10:15 a.m., police Detective Scott Lampinen responded to National Park Medical Center and spoke to a woman who stated she was attacked by her boyfriend, identified as Gregory, the night before.

She stated that around 9 p.m. on Feb. 3, Gregory, who she had been dating for about five years, hit her in the back of the head with a crock pot, causing a contusion to the back of her head.

Then he allegedly stabbed her in the upper right arm with an unknown object, possibly a steak knife, causing a "deep laceration" about 5 to 6 inches long.

She stated the attack occurred at Gregory's residence on Wood Street when they began arguing about a deceased acquaintance of theirs. She said he came up behind her and attacked her.

Due to the severity of the injuries the victim sustained, a warrant on a felony battery charge was issued on Feb. 4.
