The scholarships are funded by an annual yard sale, which will be held this year at the end of May to benefit recipients in 2020. This year's recipients were Terry Anderson and Jenni Clem. Representing the scholarship committee are Joy Ann Miles, Kay Bradford, chairperson, Winnie Manning and Bert Manning.

Melting Pot Genealogical Society to meet

The Melting Pot will hold its regular monthly meeting at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Melting Pot library, 649-B Ouachita Ave.

President Anita Millard will make a presentation on some of the new features provided by Ancestry.com in its DNA testing program.

Anita Haley Millard will present an overview of ThruLines and Color Coding your DNA Match List, followed by a screening of a presentation on MyTreeTags by The Barefoot Genealogist, Crista Cowen.

The Melting Pot Genealogical Society is collecting annual dues of $25 which includes monthly newsletters and its annual publication, The Kettle. The library and meetings are open to the public. The library has more than 9,000 publications, CDs, microfilm and fiche and several public-use computers. The society is open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday and Friday or by appointment, 624-0229. The library staff is an all-volunteer group of people interested in preserving and making available to the public the histories of families of Garland County and other areas.
