The Cutter Morning Star seventh- and eighth-grade chess team recently competed in the Dawson Cooperative 7-8 Grade Chess Tournament at Henderson State University in Arkadelphia. With chess coach Deborah Giusti, front, left, are Edwin Mancinas, Jacob Harbin, Gavin Stevens and Jackie Santiago, and back, from left, Cole Felts, Clarissa Todor, Sara Kingery, Abigail Bates and Kaylee Johnson. Mancinas placed first and Felts placed second in the eighth-grade division, and Stevens placed second in the seventh-grade division.
