GC Historical Society executive director to speak at Ouachita Chapter meeting

Liz Robbins, executive director of the Garland County Historical Society, will present "The Garland County Historical Society: Preserving the Past for the Future" at the next meeting of the Ouachita Chapter of the Arkansas Archeological Society at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the Maurice Room of National Park Medical Center, 1910 Malvern Road.

The program is free and open to the public. Robbins will explain the society's missions and processes and also describe its collections, showcasing many interesting photos from the archives. She will emphasize how the Garland County Historical Society can be helpful to researchers, a news release said.

Robbins is a Hot Springs native, having graduated from the University of Arkansas with a BSE in Education and from New Mexico Highlands University with an MA in English and History. She taught English for 37 years, the last 26 at Lakeside High School in Hot Springs. Since 2007, she has been the executive director of the Garland County Historical Society. She is the editor of its yearly journal, The Record. She has served on the board of the Arkansas State Archives.
