Two new members have joined The Village Chorale this season, the Chorale's director, Thomas Bolton, recently announced.
Kay Crews and her husband, Mike, moved to Hot Springs Village from Carefree, Ariz., 10 years ago. Music has always been an important part of her life, as she majored in vocal music in college, a news release said. "She found herself singing in various choruses everywhere they have lived. You have probably seen her grace the stage with a number of choral groups in the Hot Springs area. Kay returns to the Chorale after a brief sabbatical, and we are delighted to have her add her beautiful voice to our ensemble."
Richard Rose has had an extensive career in music ministry. Rose graduated from Ouachita Baptist University as a music major and later earned a Doctor of Church Music degree from Southwestern Seminary in Fort Worth. He has served as a music minister in churches in Benton and Mena. He lives in Benton and is the music director for Coronado Baptist Church in Hot Springs Village.
"We are happy to have Richard add his rich baritone voice to the Chorale's fine choral sound," the release said.
"The Chorale has worked very hard to perfect their sound so that you will hear an excellent quality choral ensemble at our Christmas concert," Bolton said of the upcoming Christmas concert.
"We accomplish our mission of 'Connecting Community to the Choral Art' by offering our audiences a variety of genres presented with a fine choral sound. You will hear light classical, new compositions, familiar Christmas carols made new with exciting new arrangements, jazz, and even some pop."
The concert sponsor for this year's concert is ReMax of Hot Springs Village and the ticket sponsor is Arvest Bank.
"Sounds of the Season" will be held at the Woodlands Auditorium on Tuesday, Dec. 10, at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $12 for open seating and are on sale now at http://www.hsvticketsales.com, the Woodlands business office during business hours, ReMax of Hot Springs Village, and from Chorale singers.
