The Village Strings' annual Christmas concert will be held at 6 p.m. Monday, Dec. 2, in Anthony Chapel at Garvan Woodland Gardens, 550 Arkridge Road.

"The majestic Anthony Chapel is the perfect backdrop for this year's delightful mix of holiday favorites and classical highlights. Join us for a magical evening that will evoke memories of Christmas past and leave you with the spirit of Christmas that will carry you through the holiday season," a news release said.

This year's program showcases contemporary interpretations of Yuletide favorites arranged by Chip Davis for Mannheim Steamroller. Pop favorites, including "The Polar Express," "Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer" and "You're a Mean One Mr. Grinch," will "delight children of all ages."

The highlight of this year's concert is a performance of Antonio Vivaldi's Winter Concerto by Barbara Reeve, the concertmaster of the Delta Symphony of Jonesboro, who plays cello with the Village Strings. She has a teaching studio in west Little Rock. Earning performance degrees in both violin and viola, she retired from Batesville School District where she founded the string program.

Directed by John Leisenring, the all-volunteer string orchestra has been performing for audiences in Hot Springs Village and adjoining communities since 1990 with an extensive repertoire including classical, pop and rock selections.
