Tuesday's Letters to the editor

Feigned outrage

Dear editor:

Now that the whistleblower (so-called) is known, why don't the Democrats reveal all that we already know about him? The reason is that he is a partisan former NSC employee fired by President Trump for suspicion of leaking in 2017. This partisan also worked for former CIA Director John Brennan. This partisan started the storyline, through an illegal email, that President Trump had fired James Comey on direction of Vladimir Putin. This event helped begin the Mueller probe. The fact that two of this partisan's close associates at the NSC currently work on Adam Schiff's staff surely has nothing to do with the impeachment attempt. Why do you think Adam Schiff does not want to reveal his name?

When all of the smoke and mirrors come to light, the Democratic Party will be badly damaged by their attempts to bring down this president at any cost. When all of the "real" investigations into the swamp and corruption come to light Adam Schiff may just become a footnote in the demise of a previously great party reduced to rubble by the truth. You wanted clarity? Well, we are going to give you the daylight you deserve. All of your lies, corruption, manipulation of the press and feigned outrage will destroy you, if the socialists among you don't do it first. The press already has the same information. Why do you think they are so quiet? Their whole existence depends on this story continuing. Wake up America! These people are not on your side!

Hot Springs

'Tailgate' thanks

Dear editor:

Oaklawn Rotary Club held Hot Springs' first matching event on Oct. 26. Entitled "Time to Tailgate," the event brought together area adoptive children with prescreened adoptive parents in a fun and relaxed setting.

Oaklawn Rotary partnered with Project Zero, a statewide nonprofit dedicated to bringing the number of adoptive children to zero, together with the Department of Human Services Division of Child and Family Services. Christie Erwin, Project Zero and Tiffany Wright, DCFS, worked diligently with us to ensure our event's success. We're delighted to report that 20 inquiries were made by adoptive parents immediately afterward.

Principal Janet Edgar of St. John's Catholic School, along with Marianne Layne, Sr. Noeline and the entire staff, generously offered the perfect venue. First responders from Hot Springs police, Hot Springs fire and LifeNet braved the rain to visit with the children. Seiz Signs provided our welcome sign, and Wells Fun Company worked closely with us until our last-minute weather call.

Our thanks to Rotary District 6170 for the grant award that covered many event costs. The Women's Chamber, Relyance Bank and club donors provided generous financial support. Relyance Bank also loaned its grill for our giant tailgate lunch. Special thanks to our energetic volunteers, not only from Oaklawn Rotary but also from Crossgate Church and The Call. Our thanks also to anyone who we may have inadvertently omitted.

While there are so many waiting children within our midst, our hope is that this event will increase the chances of a match between the right child and the right parents. We're grateful to serve in such a supportive community.
