DAR, scouts place flags on veterans' graves

Members of the Hot Springs of Arkansas DAR Chapter convened their regularly scheduled monthly meeting on a chilly Saturday morning Nov. 9 at Morning Star Cemetery to place American flags on the graves of veterans interred there.

DAR members were joined by Girl Scout Troop No. 6683, led by Janet Terrill, and by one member of Cub Scout Pack 4. Participating members were Lewis Hendricks, parent of Lily Hendricks, 6; J. Kelley, parent of Gracie Kelly, 7; Heather Graham, parent of Geneva Graham, 6; Cheyenne Blevins, parent of Kerry Blevins; Janet Terrill, parent of Dustin and Hailey Terrill; Octavia Lovell; Riley Koon, Celes Koon and their father Jonathan Koon; and Stephen Koon, husband of DAR member and organizer of the event, Martha Koon.

"All participants spent the morning hours making sure all the veterans' graves were marked by a flag. Each person there enthusiastically honored these local heroes," a news release said.

Whitfield Garden Club to meet Tuesday

Whitfield Garden Club will meet at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Huntleigh Woods Club House.

Members will show their Fairy Gardens designs. Call Rosemary Hadlock at 525-1963 if interested in attending.

Whittington Valley Association to meet Monday

The next monthly meeting of the Whittington Valley Neighborhood Association will be at 6:30 p.m. Monday at the First Presbyterian Church, 213 Whittington Ave.

Among the topics to be discussed are planning for the association's upcoming Christmas Party, which will be a joint event hosted by both the Whittington Valley Neighborhood Association and the Gateway Community Association.
