Support groups

Narcotics Anonymous meets at noon and 8 p.m. today at 919 Hobson Ave. This is a 12-step recovery program for people for whom drugs have become a major problem. The Help Line number is 321-8700.

Alcoholics Anonymous meets daily at 8 p.m.; at 8 a.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday; at noon Monday through Saturday; and at 6:30 p.m. Sunday. The speaker meeting is at 11 a.m. Sunday. Humane Society of Garland County pet adoption is held from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturdays at Petco, in Cornerstone Shopping Center. All dogs and cats are neutered, up-to-date on shots and deemed healthy. To volunteer to help with adopt-a-thons, transporting dogs, humane investigations, education programs, Walk-A-Dog project or at the thrift store, call 623-5012. The kennel, at 1249 Ault Loop, Lonsdale, off Highway 128 east of Hot Springs Village, is open from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesdays-Fridays and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays. HSGC is a limited intake "no kill" facility which is donation-funded only and receives no tax funding. It offers programs such as Humane Education and Dog Bite Prevention to any local youth group, school, church or civic organization.

Mountain Valley Sportsman's Association holds International Defensive Pistol Association matches at 9 a.m. on the second Saturday and U.S. Practical Pistol Association matches at 10 a.m. the fourth Saturday of each month. Rimfire matches are held on various Sunday afternoons. Trap and Skeet fields are open at 9 a.m. Saturdays; and 1 p.m. Sundays and Tuesdays. Cowboy Action matches are the first Saturday. Civilian marksmanship matches are the third Saturday. All are held at Valley Range. From the intersection of Highway 70 east and Millcreek Road, take Millcreek and drive 6.5 miles to the gravel pit, turn right on the dirt road, go 1.9 miles to the range. Rhythmic Interactive Percussion Ensemble meets from 4-8 p.m. Sundays at Kenneth Adair Park, 358 Central Ave., to inspire members and the public that everyone has rhythm and can connect through rhythm and have a healthier life. Hot Springs Village Merry Mixers will dance at 7 p.m. today at the Coronado Center, Hot Springs Village, featuring the music of Larry House. Members dance to live music on the third Saturday of each month. There is ballroom, swing, Latin, rock and country music. Bring snacks.
