Earth Angel

In addition to the city's Earth Angel curbside collection, the Solid Waste Department offers a recycling drop-off center at the corner of Valley and Runyon streets.

Newspaper, corrugated cardboard, phone books, aluminum cans, plastics No. 1 and No. 2, glass (jars and bottles), and sorted office paper (white office paper, colored paper, junk mail, magazines, catalogs, etc.) are accepted for recycling.

To participate in the Earth Angel program, call the Solid Waste office at 321-6911.

Last week, the Earth Angels of Hot Springs recycled:

• 158 pounds -- Aluminum cans.

• 1,923 pounds -- Newspaper.

• 743 pounds -- Corrugated cardboard.

• 506 pounds -- Plastic No. 1 and No. 2.

• 51,260 pounds -- Yard waste and C.A.P.S.

• 75,720 pounds -- Commercial cardboard collection.

A total of 65.15 tons of recyclable materials were kept out of the landfill.

• Today -- Whittington/Quapaw-Prospect.

• Monday -- Jaycee Park/Oaklawn-Henderson.

• Tuesday -- Richard/Airport- Family Park.

• Wednesday -- Grove/Files Road-Higdon Ferry.

• Thursday -- McCauley-Greenwood.

• Friday, Oct. 25 -- Hobson-Plain.
