HOT SPRINGS VILLAGE -- The Village Chorale recently held its annual fall season kickoff dinner at Faith Lutheran Church in Hot Springs Village.

The event is held each year to welcome members back after the summer break and to introduce the plans for the Christmas Concert. The dinner was catered by Riverside Catering with the desserts furnished by the Chorale board. "All of the Chorale members and their spouses enjoyed the excellent food that was provided by Riverside and the board," a news release said.

After dinner, Chorale Director Thomas Bolton introduced a number of new members who will be joining the group this fall. In addition, each Chorale member introduced themselves and gave a brief statement of their musical background and their history with the Chorale. Tenure with the Chorale varied from two seasons to over 22 years.

"The Chorale board also expressed their thanks to the spouses of the members for their willingness to share their spouses with the Chorale for the hours put into rehearsals and preparation for each concert," the release said.

Bolton introduced the music for this year's Christmas Concert, which will be titled "Sounds of the Season." The program will vary from light classical to familiar carols in brand new settings. There will be five a cappella numbers that are always crowd-pleasers, the release said. In addition to the fine piano playing of chorale accompanist, Kristen LaMadrid, the concert will feature a string quartet, soprano and tenor sax and a jazz trio.

The Village Chorale is an auditioned mixed choral ensemble of 35 to 40 voices. Its mission statement is "Connecting Community to the Choral Art." The group rehearses on Monday evenings at the Kirk of the Pines in Hot Springs Village.

"We are always interested in talking to those interested in singing with a fine choral ensemble," the release said. Call Bolton at 502-889-1520 or email [email protected] for more information.

"Sounds of the Season" will be performed at Woodlands Auditorium in Hot Springs Village on Tuesday, Dec. 10, at 7:30 p.m.
