Hot Springs Toastmasters to meet Saturday

Hot Springs Toastmasters, which celebrates its 30-year anniversary as a club this month, will hold its regular weekly club meeting at 8 a.m. Saturday at National Park Medical Center, 1910 Malvern Ave.

The club's fall club contest date for Table Topics and Humorous Speech will be on Sept. 28. This is part of a contest series from the club level, on to Area, on Oct. 19, and Division. Contestants and those who fill other contest roles are needed; contact Vice President for Education Nancy Britt to compete or fill another role.

A reminder to members who have not yet paid upcoming dues: Checks are payable to Hot Springs Toastmasters. Payment can be given or mailed to treasurer Steve Hinsley, 510 Lakeside Road, Hot Springs, AR 71901. The final meeting for in-person payment is Sept. 28.

All former Toastmasters, as well as interested guests, are welcome. There is no charge to come see what the club is about, the release said. Meetings are normally one hour long. For more information, the club website, with contact options, is at https://7643.toastmastersclubs.org/.

Toastmasters is a supportive, inexpensive way to learn speaking and leadership skills. Training resources for speechmaking are part of Toastmaster support available to members. Toastmasters International's materials and programs also offer leadership development. New members are offered mentoring, either assigned or a chosen match. Meeting roles rotate from one week to the next.

Lupus Foundation support group to meet Tuesday

The Lupus Foundation of Arkansas Inc. will hold a Hot Springs Support Group meeting at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday in Room C of the Garland County Library, 1427 Malvern Ave.

All meetings are free and open the public. The meetings give lupus patients the opportunity to express how they are coping with the disease. Bring a friend or family member for support. All autoimmune disease patients are welcome, and new patients are welcome to attend.
