The Fun City Chorus, Hot Springs men's a cappella singing group, has completed a successful summer season and is rehearsing for a busy and exciting fall schedule, according to a news release.

The chorus, which continues to grow and is now 35 strong, is affiliated with the Barbershop Harmony Society and is under the direction of Steve Spakes.

The chorus is hosting a Guest Night and Wives Appreciation event at 6:30 p.m. Monday at Westminster Presbyterian Church. A barbecue dinner with all the trimmings will be served "with music and fun for all. This will be a perfect night of fun and a great opportunity for any interested singers to get to know the chorus," the release said.

Fun City Chorus recently performed its rendition of the national anthem at the FLW Cup weigh-in ceremony and has performed throughout the summer as part of the Bathhouse Theater's successful 1950s production to packed audiences, it said.

Fun City's busy fall schedule begins this weekend with a performance at 3 p.m. today for the Hot Spring's Music Club event at Grand Avenue Baptist Church. The musical event is free to the public. On Monday, the chorus will entertain approximately 1,000 people at the Arkansas Rural Water Association's annual meeting at the Hot Springs Convention Center.

October will bring appearances by the chorus at the Veterans Memorial of Garland County's 10-year celebration, the Whittington Avenue Block Party, and two appearances at the Bathhouse Theater for the '50s show. In November, the chorus will participate and perform at the annual chili cook-off and start a series of seven appearances as part of the Bath House's production of "Home for the Holidays." In December, the Fun City Chorus will sponsor and perform in Holiday in the Park at the Hot Springs Convention Center.

"The Fun City Chorus is always seeking new members and encourages any men who enjoy singing and great camaraderie to come to our guest night or attend any of our rehearsals" each Monday at 7 p.m. at Westminster Presbyterian.
