National Park Photo Club to meet

The September meeting of the National Park Photography Club on Tuesday at the Garland County Library will feature a presentation by Max D. Webster that will explain when, why and how to use layer masks in Adobe Photoshop.

"If you are interested in creating quality photographic images, layer masks are one of the most important tools you can use. Without them, your work, your creativity and your flexibility all suffer. Fortunately, as Max will explain, layer masks are incredibly simple and easy to understand. If you have been avoiding using layer masks to improve your images, Max will show you how easy it really is to take your post processing to the next level," a news release said.

Webster's presentation will cover the tools used for making selections, and the types of masks that can be created. He will also demonstrate how to use masks and will provide some references for further exploration.

"This program will be of value for all aspiring photographers who want to increase their Photoshop skills," the release said.

Webster, who is retired, lives in Benton. After being discharged from the U.S. Air Force, he spent his career in the computer technology industry. He held positions from technician to CEO with global responsibilities and ended his career consulting within the industry. "Retirement has allowed him to pursue gardening and focus on his photography hobbies," the release said.

The general meeting begins at 5:30 p.m. and will be followed by Webster's presentation and judging of club members' images.

"This is a good opportunity to meet other local photographers and see some of their recent work. The National Park Photography Club is open to photographers of all skill levels, and is a great place to learn more about how to use your camera and how to capture images that you will cherish for a lifetime. A one-year membership to NPPC is a very reasonable $20," the release said.
