Wyatt earns cross country win for Fountain Lake

CADDO HILLS -- Fountain Lake junior Brooke Wyatt became the school's first cross country athlete to win a race as she won the Caddo Hills Indian Run on Saturday.

Wyatt, who crossed the finish line in 18:12.95, was the only athlete from the school to compete at the race. Russellville senior Charissa Helms-Pittman finished second at the race in 18:13.27.

Fountain Lake recently created its first cross country team with the school board approving the creation of the team in a special meeting in August. The team is coached by athletic director Marc Davis.

Bismarck splits with

Centerpoint at Glenwood

GLENWOOD -- Centerpoint and Bismarck split in Monday's 9-hole match at Glenwood Country Club with the Knights winning the boys match and the Lady Lions taking the girls match.

Centerpoint's Kaden Owens earned medalist honors with a 7-over 43 as the Knights recorded a team score of 133. Jacob Loy earned runner-up medalist honors with an 8-over 44, leading the Lions to a 140.

Gabe Doster and Dillon Fox rounded out the Knights' team score with 45. Kaden Horn shot a 48, and Jace Clark finished with a 50.

Blake Smith and Logan Bubulka both shot 48s to set the team card, and Braden Efird shot a 49.

Gloria Berry earned another medalist award as she shot a 3-over 39 to lead the Lady Lions to the win with a 124. Makenna Norris shot a 5-over 41 for runner-up medalist honors, and Hannah Collie rounded out the team score with a 44. Anna Cain shot a 54, and Erin Fendley had a 56.

The Lady Knights finished with a team score of 163, led by Kaydra Fox's 42. Bailey Brown shot a 59, and Maddie Plyler's 62 set the team card. Josie Galloway carded a 72 for the Lady Knights.

Junior Rams fall at Mena

MENA -- Lakeside's junior Rams lost a heart-breaker Monday on the road, dropping a three-set match to Mena.

The junior Rams (9-2) fell 25-23 in the first set before taking a 25-15 win in the second, but Mena held on for the 15-13 match win.

Carsen Cordell led the team with 11 kills, six digs, one block, and seven service points, including an ace. Claire Graham added seven kills with four solo blocks, Madi Bell Landry had six kills with three solo blocks, and Olivia Porter had nine assists, three kills and a block assist. Brooklyn Bourland had eight assists, Kaitlyn Threadgill had nine digs to lead the back row, and Kate Foreman dug seven times.

On Saturday, the junior Rams played in the Conway Invitational Tournament, falling in the semifinals to host Conway White 25-23, 25-14. Cordell led the team with six digs and five kills, Threadgill had nine digs and Landry and Graham had three kills and two solo blocks each.

The team took wins over Bryant and Little Rock Christian before splitting with Ramsey in pool play. The junior Rams defeated Vilonia in the first round of the bracket, 25-9, 16-25, 15-8. Cordell had four kills, Landry added three kills with three blocks, and Graham had three kills with four blocks. Beau Kuhn served up 12 consecutive points, including three aces, and had a kill. Porter had seven assists with two kills, and Threadgill had 11 digs with two kills.

The Rams host Little Rock Christian at 5 p.m. Thursday.

Lady Cobras down

Harding Academy

FOUNTAIN LAKE -- Fountain Lake had to battle, but the Lady Cobras came away with a 3-1 victory over Harding Academy Monday afternoon at Sammy Lambert Court at Irvin J. Bass Gymnasium.

The Lady Cobras (6-1) cruised to a 25-13 win in the first set, but the Lady Wildcats battled back to take a 27-25 win in the second. Fountain Lake went on to secure the match with wins of 25-17 and 25-19.

Sophie Skinner led the Lady Cobras with 57 assists, 12 service points, nine digs and two blocks. Emoree Martin had 12 service points, including four aces, 16 digs and 14 kills, and Landry Cate had nine service points with two aces, 15 kills and a block. Presley Hamric also had 15 kills in the match.

The Lady Cobras travel to Ashdown Thursday.

Lakeside defeats

Pulaski Academy

Lakeside won seven of 12 matches to defeat the visiting Pulaski Academy Bruins Monday afternoon.

In girls singles, Julia Malone defeated J. Love 6-2, 7-5, and Georgia Gooch beat K. Cobb 8-1 with Haley Fauber dropping her match to J. Antuago 0-6, 2-6.

The Lady Rams won all three of their doubles matches with Mary Catherine Cowen and Isabella Calhoun defeating Heshmet and Tan 6-0, 2-6, 10-8. Sydney Blount and Elizabeth Cowen beat Hawkins and Schemper 6-2, 6-3, and Addyson Dowdy and Ava Monte beat Gentry and Barthalamew 8-3.

In boys singles, Ben Hollis fell to A. Tran 0-6, 2-6, but William Ivy downed Logan Miller 6-2, 6-7 (10-2) and Brodie McAllister fell to Will Harrison 4-8.

Brady Littler and Sam Stevens picked up the team's only boys doubles win beating Paydak and Ahmad 8-2. Greyson Cornelison and Walker Wood fell to Elliott and Lewis 0-6, 1-6, and Brooks Bell and Griffin Gulley fell to Byrd and Rogers 2-6, 3-6.

Lakeside will host Lake Hamilton and Greenwood Thursday.
