Lakeside wins matches at Hurricane Creek

BENTON -- Lakeside walked away with a pair of wins Tuesday, defeating Benton and Little Rock Christian at Hurricane Creek Golf Course.

Carson Garner earned medalist honors with a 5-under 67 on the course with teammate Wil Griffin earning runner-up medalist honors with a 4-under 68. Cooper Gordon added a 70, and Graham Dolan had an 88 to round out the winning team card at 293.

Benton finished with a 329 to come in second, and Little Rock Christian did not have enough players to constitute a team score.

The Lady Rams shot a 290 for their win with Brooklyn Bourland shooting an 82 to earn medalist honors. Benton and Little Rock Christian did not have enough players for a team score.

Lakeside's Elizabeth Kalinowsky shot a 99, and Kayla Bright finished with a 109 to round out the Lady Rams' team score, and Riley Langston had a 117.

"I am so proud of this team and the hard work they have been putting in, not only physically but mentally as well," said coach Kirsten Garner, noting that the Lady Rams had three new personal bests in the match. "My philosophy this whole season has been 'think better, play better,' and they have been practicing that every day as well as their golf skills, and I definitely see improvement in both the boys and girls."

Lakeside will host Sheridan today at 2 p.m. at Hot Springs Country Club.

* Lakeside also took a pair of wins last week at Hot Springs Country Club against Benton.

The Rams shot a 314 to best Benton, which shot a 343. Gordon led the Rams with a 73 for medalist honors with Griffin earning runner-up medalist honors. Garner shot an 80, and Dolan finished with an 86 to round out the team card. Hunter Little also shot a 98 for Lakeside.

The Lady Rams shot a 249 for the win, but Benton had just one player take to the course. Maggie Huett earned medalist honors with a 76, and Abbylea Huett earned runner-up medalist honors with an 86. Bourland rounded out the team card with an 87. Langston shot a 98, Kalinowsky had a 102 and Bright finished with a 122.

Lady Wolves earn win at Glenwood CC

GLENWOOD -- Lake Hamilton's Ginny Higginbotham shot an 8-over 44 to earn medalist honors and lead the Lady Wolves to a win over Sylvan Hills and Fountain Lake Monday at Glenwood Country Club.

Kenley Spruill shot a 55, and Annabelle Coppedge carded a 57 to set the team score at 156 for the 9-hole match.

"Ginny Higginbotham tied her best round for the back 9 at Glenwood this season with a 44, earning medalist honors," said head coach Brandi Higginbotham. "She was finally able to improve her iron play."

Sylvan Hills and Fountain Lake did not have enough players to earn a team score. Fountain Lake's Camille McDaniel finished with a 53 for runner-up medalist honors.

Sylvan Hills picked up the win in the boys match with a 193 as neither Lake Hamilton nor Fountain Lake had enough for a team score. The Bears' Chandler Welch earned medalist honors with a 1-over 37.

Fountain Lake's Christopher Desfassiaux was runner-up medalist with a 39, and Carson McCoy had a 42. Lake Hamilton's Zac Pennington also earned runner-up medalist honors with a 39. Cade Robinson shot a 47, and Connor Hall had 51.

"Zac Pennington shot by far his best round of the year with a 39," Higginbotham said. "Zac is a freshman and has been up and down some this season, but he really put it all together at this match. I am so proud of him."

The Wolves will host the 5A South Conference Tournament Tuesday at Glenwood Country Club at 9 a.m.

Bismarck edges Murfreesboro

BISMARCK -- Bismarck ended up taking a 3-2 win over Murfreesboro Wednesday afternoon.

Victoria Bourgeois defeated Murfreesboro's Brittany Laurent 6-1 in girls singles, but Rebecca Gray fell to Chloe Keys 1-6.

In girls doubles, Kalynne Wright and Faith Billings bested Sierra Martin and Joselyn K. 6-4. Murfreesboro's Martin and Kayla defeated Bismarck's Audrey Kizziar and Hannah Wright 6-4.

Andrew Webb and Ethan Davis earned a 7-6 win over Gavin and Andrew in boys doubles action to earn the win.

Bismarck will host Haskell Harmony Grove on Monday.

Sheridan defeats Hot Springs

Hot Springs managed just three wins in 15 matches Tuesday afternoon at Kimery Park.

Nina Gunnell defeated Crouse 6-4 in No. 4 singles play, and Ella Pace and Angelina Guevara bested Caswell and Crouse 8-1 in No. 1 doubles.

Eben Sanders and John Thomas Butler defeated Crook and Reynolds 6-2 in No. 4 doubles.

Hannah Newcomb fell 8-0 to Gloria Chorico and 8-5 to Kaylee Lewellen, and Isabelle Ritter fell 8-2 to Landry Caswell. Ritter and Gunnell fell 8-5 to Johnson and Mosley in girls doubles action.

In boys singles, Ethan Abel fell 8-1 to Takota Crook, Sanders lost 8-6 to Landen Mixer, Butler lost 9-7 to Cade Young, and E.J. Martinez dropped his match to Owen Reynolds 8-4.

Blaine Martin and Said Angeles dropped their doubles match to Sorry and Todd 8-3, and the pairing also fell 8-3 to Kuttenkuler and Kuttenkuler. Falco Oversteeg and Bryson Austin fell 8-4 in their doubles match against Thompson and Flippin.

Hot Springs will visit Fountain Lake this afternoon.
