Joseph Allen Saxton Curl, 34, who lists a Hemet, Calif., address, was taken into custody shortly after 3 p.m. Wednesday on the King Expressway near Airport Road after a traffic stop by Hot Springs police and Arkansas State Police.

Curl was being sought on a murder charge out of Los Angeles and the FBI office there had sent an alert to the Arkansas FBI that he might be in the state, Connor Hagan, public affairs officer for the FBI in Arkansas, told the newspaper Thursday.

Curl remained in custody Thursday in lieu of $3 million bond awaiting extradition to California. Hagan said the arrest "went seamlessly" and commended the efforts of the HSPD and ASP in working with the FBI to apprehend Curl.
