Sheriff's reserve unit releases March hours

Garland County Sheriff's Reserve Capt. Hank Nowak reports that reserve deputies worked a total of 117 hours in March, including 74 hours in the patrol division, responding to 13 calls and taking three reports.

"One new applicant has successfully passed all the criteria for joining and will be starting training courses (online) during the coming week," Nowak said, noting, "Any contributions will be minimal for the next few months."

The unit, which is comprised of unpaid volunteers, provides support to the sheriff's department's different divisions throughout the year. Anyone interested in applying for the reserves can apply online at http://www.garlandcountysheriff.com or pick up an application at the department at 525 Ouachita Ave.
