OPINION

Votes have consequences

Dear editor:

Stop with the name-calling. Stop with focusing on President Trump's personality or Mr. Biden's seemingly dementia affliction.

Do not cast your vote based on personality or likability or unlikeability, for you will almost always suffer a letdown.

A great example was Mr. Obama. He presented both a most likable and enjoyable personality, however, his policies and politics were a documented and proven disaster for our country. Highest unemployment since the early '70s, highest taxes as well, and I could go on and on, but that's not my intent of this writing. Stop with the accusations of President Trump having told lies, Mr. Obama and Mr. Biden have also been proven to have told (according to The New York Times, The Washington Post and The Wall Street Journal, in excess of 100,000 lies themselves). Stop.

Rather, cast your vote after you consider the consequences of your vote. In fact, recall that President Obama told the Republican Senators during the Obama care roundtable discussion to "sit down, shut up, because elections have consequences."

This presidential and congressional election has provided all of us voters the clearest choice of outcome determining results that we have had in my lifetime of voting (47 years).

Democrats and Mr. Biden have made it clear, and to name just a few (DNC website), that they intend to raise your taxes, ignore certain aspects of the Constitution that prevent government from oppressing your God-given freedom and put it in the hands of government, move the USA toward a permanent establishment of socialism, refuse the enforcement of certain laws upon certain groups of people.

Republicans and Mr. Trump have made it clear, and to name just a few, (RNC website) that they will maintain if not lower the current tax brackets (lowest since Reagan years), continue to achieve through the current policies the most aggressively growing economy in 70 years, continue providing the steadfastness of the lowest unemployment among Blacks in the history of our country, and have fewer military troops abroad than at any time in our country in 45 years, sustain freedom and law enforcement and justice of every American and visitor in our country.

This I write as a person who has voted for both Democrats and Republicans -- vote for the consequences/outcomes you desire.

This time around, albeit as hard as President Trump is to like as a person, he gets my vote because his support of mine and my children and grandchildren's freedom is a stark contrast to the Democrats and Mr. Bidens this time around.

God bless us all.
