Marshall Eugene "Gene" Pumphrey passed away Aug. 25, 2020, at the age of 70, at his home in Hot Springs, Ark.

Gene was born on Dec. 24, 1949, in Memphis, Tenn., to the late L.E. and Marie Reynolds Pumphrey.

An avid gun collector and outdoorsman, Gene was a member of PST Hunting Club in Prattsville. Deer hunting was his passion, his marksmanship was phenomenal. Next to deer hunting was his love of trout fishing the Little Red River at Heber Springs and deep sea fishing in Destin, Fla. Gene never met a stranger and loved to travel and see new things with his wife and best friend, Neena. Gene was very talented and could fix anything. He loved to take photos at holidays of family and friends, and enjoyed capturing the beauty of his travels. Gene belonged to the Hot Springs Elk Lodge No. 380, The Sheridan Masonic Lodge No. 260, The United Methodist Church, was a ham radio operator and retired from Entergy at White Bluff after 30-plus years.

Left to cherish his memory, his wife of almost 33 years, Neena James Pumphrey; his daughters, Tonia Odom (Chad), Tamra Burchfield (Andy), Rebecca Simpson (Mark); his four grandchildren, Holly Harris, Kylie Odom, Haley Callanen and Riley Simpson; three great-grandchildren, Hadyn, Kane and Vada Harris; his brother, Joe Donald Pumphrey; and his special puppy, Buzzy.
