A local man and woman were both arrested Sunday night on felony battery charges after allegedly attacking the mother of the man's child at Family Park during a custody exchange for the child.

Joseph Wayne Scott, 41, who lists a Grant Street address, and Tiah Chanel Lockwood Perry, 30, who lists a South Rogers Road address, were both taken into custody shortly before 8 p.m. Scott was charged with second-degree domestic battery, punishable by up to 10 years in prison, and Perry was charged with second-degree battery, punishable by up to six years.

Scott was held on zero bond and was set to appear Monday in Garland County District Court. Perry was later released on a $2,500 bond and is set to appear Dec. 8 in district court.

According to the probable cause affidavit, around 5:45 p.m. Sunday, Hot Springs police Officer 1st Class Joel Crook responded to the Valero, 1024 Airport Road, regarding a battery that had occurred earlier at Family Park, 215 Family Park Road.

Crook made contact with the female victim and noted she was "very distraught" and had a significant amount of blood on her face. She told him she had gone to Family Park to exchange custody with her child's father, identified as Scott.

She said when she arrived she got out of her car and a woman, known to her as Tiah Perry, approached her and said, "I'm about to give you the time of your life." She said Perry then began punching her and pulling her hair, causing her to fall to the ground where she continued punching her in the face.

The victim said while she was on the ground Scott began kicking her and punching her. She said a second heavy-set Black male pulled out a handgun and pointed it at her. She said the man told her, "I'll kill you" and then began firing the gun into the air.

She said the man then pulled Perry off her and she was able to get up, run back to her vehicle and flee to the Valero.

The victim was transported by LifeNet to CHI St. Vincent Hot Springs where medical staff later advised she suffered a broken nose and broken ribs.

The affidavit notes contact was later made with Scott at the police department and based on statements and evidence collected, he was taken into custody. Perry was also taken into custody at the police department.
