The Jessieville School District exists on the foundation that all students are lifelong learners.

Being a lifelong learner means developing a love for learning at a young age, and continuing to pursue knowledge beyond the high school experience and throughout adulthood -- whether for professional reasons or for one's own enjoyment. One way Jessieville seeks to create lifelong learners throughout 2020 is through its strong focus on literacy, at every grade level and across every subject area. Jessieville teachers and administrators have carefully aligned their curriculum with the overarching goal of reading, writing, and discussing every day in the classroom. Equipping students with these valuable skills will enable them to excel and thrive, both professionally and personally.

In order to successfully provide optimal learning opportunities, Jessieville School District recognizes the need for differentiated instruction, meaning that teachers are prepared to meet students at their level and push them to reach their full potential. There are many ways in which students receive individualized instruction at Jessieville. Students in K-12 have access to interventions and extra support during a designated, built-in period each day. High school students have access to programs such as HUB (an alternate pathway to graduation), a variety of Advanced Placement classes, up to 45 hours of concurrent college credit hours, and National Park Technology Center programs of study. The district also offers a free after-school program, through which tutors provide extra support to students in grades K-12 as needed.

Equally important to personalized instruction is the distinct correlation between student attendance and student success. In other words, students must be present to receive the quality instruction that Jessieville strives to provide. Administration and teachers will continue to emphasize the importance of attendance throughout 2020.

Lastly, the district will continue collaborating with its community to create a strong support system for students. School leaders will listen to the ideas and feedback of parents and community members, and work hard to keep them informed. One method of making information more accessible is to increase the district's online presence, utilizing social media to improve communication with the public. The district's monthly newsletter and Facebook timeline now appear on the school's official website, providing the public with an all-in-one location to check for district announcements and news.

Superintendent Melissa Speers is looking forward to the improvements and progress that 2020 holds, and would like to thank the community and staff members for their ongoing support of Jessieville School District throughout 2020. There's no place like Jessieville!
