Visit Hot Springs said Wednesday it is beginning the process of hiring a sports facilities manager for the new Majestic Park baseball complex.

The position that will pay $40-60,000 a year, depending on experience in managing a sports facility, Visit Hot Springs CEO Steve Arrison said Wednesday.

Arrison said they are still "very early" in the hiring process, but plan to fill the position in the next three to four months.

The person they seek is "someone experienced at running a baseball facility on at least five fields and someone with experience in traveling baseball, running and booking tournaments," he said, noting they need someone with a "good youth baseball background and good background in the total operation of an athletic complex like this that has maintenance and concessions and everything that goes into it."

According to the job listing on Visit Hot Springs' website, the hired manager will be responsible for "total management" of the facility, including all aspects of maintenance, staff supervision, financial management, resource and equipment management, managing lease and license agreements, coordination with other agencies and marketing.

The listing also noted the manager is required to be available and respond to emergency on-call situations 24 hours a day and to work evenings and weekends during peak operating seasons.

"Physical demands," according to the listing, include lifting 50 pounds maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 25 pounds, reaching, talking, hearing, seeing and walking or standing to a significant degree.

It also states the "working conditions" are in both a climate-controlled office environment and outdoors at the park's fields. Duties will generally require work weeks in excess of 40 hours.

Arrison said they are still in the process of finalizing the park's budget but still anticipate it to open the first quarter of 2021.

"(We're) hoping to break ground next month, and it will be 12 months from then, a lot depends on weather and availability of the various traits that will have to work on it," he said. "There's so much construction going on right now in Hot Springs."

The $8 million project will be a five-field baseball complex located at the site of the former Boys & Girls Club of Hot Springs at 109 W. Belding St. Other facilities at the complex will include a grandstand, concessions, restrooms, warm-up areas, batting cages and shaded playground areas. New parking areas will also be included.
