A Hot Springs man was arrested Wednesday for allegedly punching his wife after the victim's granddaughter reportedly recorded the incident on her cellphone.

Steven Michael Miller, 59, of 160 Cooper St., Apt. 21-A, was taken into custody at his residence shortly before 1 p.m. and charged with third-degree domestic battery, a misdemeanor punishable by up to one year in jail.

Miller remained in custody Thursday on zero bond and is set to appear today in Garland County District Court.

According to the probable cause affidavit, Miller's wife told Hot Springs police she was cleaning house when Miller hit her twice in the chest "out of nowhere." She said she sat down on a recliner in the living room and Miller approached her and punched her again.

The victim's granddaughter was sitting on a sofa in the living room during the incident and allegedly recorded Miller hitting the victim on her cellphone. Officer Mikki Yamauchi observed the video and reportedly saw the victim walk past Miller and sit down and then saw Miller step toward her and punch her as she put up her arms in defense.

According to court records, Miller pleaded guilty in district court on Oct. 20, 2014, to a misdemeanor count of third-degree domestic battery involving a former wife and was sentenced to one year in jail with all but 30 days suspended.

On Nov. 23, 2014, Miller was arrested again for the alleged battery of the same victim and was charged with a felony count of third-degree domestic battery since it was a second offense. On Aug. 13, 2015, the charge was withdrawn at the request of the victim, but Judge Ralph Ohm advised Miller if he received another "charge of violence" he would serve jail time.
