Election results, delegate

selection to be discussed

Results of today's Republican primary and the selection of delegates to the Republican National Convention will be discussed during Thursday's meeting of the Republican Party of Garland County, which will begin at 6:30 p.m. in the Family Center of the First Church of the Nazarene, 3804 Central Ave.

The public is welcome to attend and admission is free. The RPGC regularly meets during the first Thursday of the month.

The results of Tuesday's Republican Primary will be provided during the meeting. There will also be discussion about the selection of 4th Congressional District delegates and alternates to the Republican National Convention.

The RPGC will hold the Special Meeting of the County Convention on April 2 to elect delegates to the Special 4th Congressional District Convention, which will be held on May 2.

ServSafe Manager Course

A ServSafe Food Manager Course will be offered April 21, 22 and 23 at the Garland County Fairgrounds EHC building, 4831 Malvern Road, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:20 p.m. each day.

The course will cost $140 for new managers and $60 for recertifications. The course cost pays for the book and the exam. Participants who pass the exam will receive a ServSafe Food Manager Certification good for five years. All participants must preregister and pay by March 30. Class size is limited. Once the Servsafe books are distributed, the cost is nonrefundable.

"ServSafe has been the industry standard since 1919 in training millions of people how to receive, store, prepare, and serve food safely. Through the Cooperative Extension Service, we offer training and certifications for the ServSafe Food Handler, ServSafe Manager, and ServSafe Instructor & Proctor programs. The Arkansas Department of Health is now requiring each food service facility to have someone certified in the ServSafe Food Manager Course during operating hours," a news release said.

HSV Genealogical Society

to meet Thursday afternoon

Barb Pinkney, Hot Springs Village Genealogical Society past president, will present a brick wall case study on "Who Was Reuben's Father" using the Genealogical Proof Standard to guide participants on their search when the society meets at 2 p.m. Thursday in Room 6 of the Coronado Center.

The Village Card Club is offering bridge classes for beginners starting on Thursday, March 12, from 9-11 a.m., for six weeks. The cost is $60 for the program; the book is $12.

For bridge players wishing to up their game, "Secrets of Better Bridge" starts today from 9:30-11:30 a.m. for six weeks at $7 per person. This course provides tips, not conventions, to improve bridge results. The VCC also offers weekly two-hour Monday morning workshops at 9 a.m. for $7 per person.
