A local man sought on multiple felony warrants stemming from his alleged continued threats, harassment and abuse of his ex-girlfriend was arrested Tuesday evening after about a 90-minute standoff with Hot Springs police.

Jashad Damorian West, 22, of 400 Golf Links Road, No. 76, was taken into custody at his residence around 5 p.m. and charged with first-degree stalking and first-degree terroristic threatening, each punishable by up to 10 years in prison, third-degree domestic battery and two counts of violating an order of protection, each punishable by up to six years, and misdemeanor counts of second-degree terroristic threatening and unauthorized use of a vehicle.

West was being held on bonds totaling $58,000 and was set to appear Wednesday in Garland County District Court.

According to the probable cause affidavits, on Oct. 7, 2019, shortly before 2:30 p.m., police responded to a residence in the 1400 block of Greenwood Avenue regarding a battery that had just occurred and made contact with the victim, 21, and a female witness.

The victim stated she and the witness had gone to her residence on Greenwood and while she and her 2-month-old baby stayed inside the car the witness approached the residence. At that time, West, who is the victim's ex-boyfriend and father of her child, came running out of the house toward the victim.

She stated the vehicle was locked, but a passenger window was open and West allegedly reached inside to open the door and then began punching her from the passenger seat. She said she was able to block several of his punches with her forearms, but she was struck at one point on the forehead.

West was allegedly accusing the victim, who was four weeks pregnant at the time, of getting pregnant while he was incarcerated.

The witness reportedly confirmed the victim's version of events and noted she tried to get in between West and the victim to keep him from hitting her. She said she told West she was calling the police and West fled on foot.

On Oct. 25, the victim came to the police department and told Detective Mark Fallis she was receiving text message threats from West. She reportedly showed Fallis the texts in which West allegedly spoke about the victim "getting the police involved" and he was "going to kill her and then kill himself."

According to West's criminal history, he was found guilty of two counts of third-degree domestic battery on Jan. 17, 2019, and pleaded guilty to a felony count of aggravated assault on a family or household member on Aug. 27, 2019, in Garland County Circuit Court and was sentenced to six years in prison with the entire sentence suspended.

All the charges involved the same victim, his ex-girlfriend, and a court order was issued in all the cases barring him from contact with her.

On Jan. 8, shortly after 6 p.m., the victim reported to police that West was again threatening to kill her through text messages and Facebook messages beginning about an hour earlier.

She said West told her he was looking for her and later indicated he had found her where she was staying at her aunt's house.

On Facebook he posted a rambling message that included, "I see U ain't at ya mama house. I'm find u, watch, keep running. So you want me to air it out over there or wait till U get to yo mama. I don't want to hit (your aunt's) house. This ain't got (nothing) to do with her. You need to stop (causing) problems and running to yo family. I told U what I was (going) to do."

In text messages, he allegedly stated, "I'm kill U" and told her he wasn't trying to get the police involved but "U pushing me there, I swear to God." He further stated, "I'm done playing. Tonight the night. I show U I ain't got this gun for (nothing)."

The affidavit notes the last order of protection served against West was valid from Jan. 10, 2019, to Jan. 10, 2020, so it was still in effect when West was allegedly making the threats.

Multiple warrants for West's arrest were issued on Jan. 13. On Tuesday, shortly after 2:30 p.m., officers responded to a report of a drive-by shooting at a residence on Portland Street which reportedly involved the occupants of a red car that fled the scene.

Officers began blanketing the city searching for the car and around 3:30 p.m., an officer was driving through the trailer park at 400 Golf Links Road and spotted a red car near one the trailers. He circled back around to check again and reportedly spotted West standing on the porch of one of the trailers, Cpl. Joey Williams said Tuesday.

The officer recognized West and knew he had warrants for his arrest so an attempt was made to make contact with him and take him into custody, but he initially refused to come out. Finally, after repeated negotiation efforts, West agreed to come outside and was taken into custody without further incident.
