Everyone's a winner at the flea market

There's a reason flea markets have always drawn huge crowds -- there is something there for everyone at a great price.

Items one needs, eclectic finds, great deals or one-of-a-kind experiences can all be found. A flea market is a type of street market that provides spaces for vendors who sell previously owned goods. This type of market is often seasonal. The term itself originated in Paris in 1922. The concept made its way around the globe, and today, countless people earn a living through the flea market.

"Fortunately, for those of us who don't want to spend their days setting up and selling, you can trust a professional to do it for you," according to the Antique Dealer's Association.

"Hot Springs is home to some fine flea markets, including Mable Sophie Berg Flea Market, owned and managed by Jeanie Tosh. Her customers come from all over Arkansas and even surrounding states to have her sell their goods, so you can be sure there is something there for everyone. Everything ranging from new and used furniture as well as items for the home and outdoor space, garden areas, the 'Man-Cave' and 'She-Shed.' This covers a great variety," the release said, including tools, small equipment and hardware, such as old tin and old wooden windows and doors.

"In the old days in Paris your goods would be in an open square but now that someone like Jeanie has turned this type of thing in to a business you don't have to worry about the weather ruining your items or long working hours, all you have to worry about is if your goods are sale-able or not. Sounds like a deal," it said.

If you've got an empty wallet and an attic filled with things but no time to sell them or don't care to meet anyone in a parking lot, then you can sell them through Tosh. The business is located at 305 Airport Road.
