For the 12th year in a row, Arego's Guns has helped area disabled veterans.

Owners Roger and Erin Latsha put on a week of fundraising for Veterans Day, culminating in a donation of $6,500, a news release said.

Disabled American Veterans Chapter 5 Commander Benny Arego says without these donations and the opportunity "for us to 'shake the bucket'" to sell raffle tickets for this year's drawing of a Browning Wicked Wings shotgun, which was also donated by Arego's Guns, "our coffers would be bare."

Since most of the DAV's members are older than 65, "we have been limited in public interaction and over $10,000 was raised during the event," he said.

"This will allow us to continue our mission of vets helping vets."

Donations to DAV Chapter 5 can be made by sending a check to DAV Chapter 5, 401 Mid-America Blvd., Hot Springs AR 71913. Visit https://spikehsv8.wixsite.com/dav5 for more information.
