Navigating November with gratitude

OPINION

A grandmother raising her grandchildren in this day and age is not new. Working and raising them is a bit more challenging. This month, Jackson House helped three grandparents who are working, paying high rent, and raising grandchildren. Providing for their children's needs, as well as their personal increasing needs for their health, is difficult at best. They're grateful for help.

Mary needed food, clothes, medicine and school supplies for her household. Greg needed gas for work, food and coats, and Barbara needed food and kitchen household items. They all needed the children added to the Christmas toy and food program. People are struggling, children need to feel safe, fed and warm. They're grateful for help.

Jackson House continues to step up to the daily challenge to provide for the crisis needs of our community. These people are our neighbors, co-workers, church members, families and friends that need us today. People need hope in a scary world of unknowns. Jackson House has stood the test of time, working with you for 44 years, our friends, to meet the needs of others in an unsure world. We're grateful for you.

Join us -- we need food of all kinds, toys, blankets, heaters, socks, hats, gloves, clean beds, funds to purchase items for people in crisis. It can happen to anyone, any age, any time. Go to our website, http://www.jacksonhouse.org, drop by 705 Malvern Ave., Hot Springs, or call 501-623-4048, Volunteer, donate, pray.

Together, we can make a difference. Each item, each dollar, each person, counts.
